The face of several thousand Italian Jews who were reported by the Germans from Italy in 1945 has now been established by a representative of the Intergovernmental Committee for Refugees who toured the camps in Germany and Austria where Jews and others are being held for repotriation to their native lands.

All the Jews, brought in several transports from Italy to Germany, were later transported to the extermination camps in Oswiecim and Birkeman and executed in gas members there, eye-witnesses told the representative of the Intergovernmental Committee. Among these who substantisted the charge were Boris Rojzen, a former internee in the Oswiecim camp, Simon Frierman, who was an inmate of the Birkeman camp, and others who are now at Dachua awaiting return to their home towns.

There were still about 2,000 Jews in the Lachan camp when the investigater of the Intergovernmental Committee for Refugees visited the premises of that camp. Around 5,000 Jews were in the neighbering camp of Allach. Since then, the French, Belghan, Druth and most of the Crech Jews have been repatriated. A certain number of non-French Jews were included in the French party, the representative of the Intergovernmental Committee reports.

“Dachan has a well organised Jewish Information office whose chief representative is Dr, Dortheimer, a capable Polish Jew,” the report says. “This office has taken a census among the Jewish internses of their migration goals. The four favored by must are; Palestine, the British Dominions, United States and England.”

POLES IN CAMPS IN GERMANY ARE “STILL ACTIVELY ANTI-SEMITIC,” REPORT SAYS

The representative of the Intergovernmental Committee established that non- Jewish Poles in the Dachau and Allach camps” are still actively anti-Semitic.” He emphasizes in his report that there were complaints that until distribution of clothing and other supplies were made directly to the Jewish group, the Jews in Dachau had gernerally received less than others. “I must point out that these complaints were invariably connected with members of the Polish group,” he says in the report.

The diet in Dachau was considered by all with whom he discussed the food situation as imadequate. About 400 Jews were in the hospital suffering from typhus, tuberculosis, typhcid and general debility. The hospital in Dachau has highly skilled many staffs and the food there is extremaly good, the Intergovernmental Committee representative declares. He says that there is an urgent demand for literature in Niddish, German, French and Polish.” Many want to learn English and dictionaries sould be invaluable,” he reports.

Visiting Salzburg, the representative of the Intergovernmental Committee Found that the Military Government had established a “Jewish Affairs Desk” which concerns itself with the interests of more than are hundred Jews from various concentration camps. Most are Polish Jews. American Military authorities provided them with a house for their headquarters and a car. None of these Jews want to return to Poland. They would like to emigrate to Palestine, England and America, the official of the Intergovernmental Committee was told by their leader. A Hirsch who is the liaison officer between the militery authorities and refugees.
