Dr. Israel Goldstein, president of the Zionist Organization of America, today called for a new immigration policy designed to speed the entrance of 100,000 Jews into Palestine within the next six months.
Addressing a press luncheon, Dr. Goldstein termed President Truman’s recent statement on Palestine “encouraging” but said that “it left some doubt as to how soon a definite decision might be expected,” regarding establishment of a Jewish State in Palestine and the entry of as many Jews as possible. He urged that Palestine be given “a new status” in the coming half year, with the Jewish Agency for Palestine exercising interim control over immigration and colonization.
