The immediate opening of Palestine to Jewish immigration and the rapid rebuilding of Jewish life and dignity in liberated Europe was demanded by Dr. Stephen S. Wise at a mass meeting tonight at which he and other delegates reported on the European Conference of the World Jewish Congress held in London last month.

Dr. Nahum Goldmann, addressing the meeting on the resolutions adopted by the conference, said that the United Nations should exempt Jews who are, or were, nationals of former Axis countries from all discriminatory or confiscatory measures to which nationals of these countries are or will be subjected. Stateless Jews of such origin must not be required to revert to their former nationality, unless they expressly so desire, he added. He demanded that the Jewish people be permitted to have representatives at the trials of war criminals and that they be used for consultation and as witnesses.

Dr. Arieh Tartakower reported reported that considerable influence had to be exerted in order to prevent UNRRA from passing a resolution which would have deprived persons who refuse to be repatriated of financial relief.
