The Palestine Government is preparing a “blacklist” of Jews who will be deported to Cyrenaica or Tobruk if disturbances break out, the secret Jewish transmitter, “Voice of Israel,” charged today. The broadcast asserted that no list of Arabs is being prepared.
It also accused two British officers of the Palestine police of circulating among the Arab settlements, warning the villagers to “take good care – the Jews are rising to attack you.” The Arabs have, so far, not yielded to this incitement, the broadcaster said. Referring to the expulsion from Palestine of Constantine Poulos, Overseas News Agency correspondent, he said that Poulos was ousted because he wanted to tell the world the “entire objective truth.”
Forty “illegal immigrants” among the 1,003 refugees who arrived here last week aboard the Rumanian steamer Transylvania were transferred today to the Athlit detention camp after a minor crisis developed on board the vessel when the passengers refused to disembark unless all were released by the authorities.
When a crowd of several thousand waiting outside the port area heard that some of the immigrants would not be released, they pushed towards the dock where the Transylvania is berthed and would not leave until they were forced to do so by police and fire brigade units.
The disembarkation concluded after representatives of the Jewish Agency and the Histadruth assured the refugees that the 40 who had no certificates would be allowed to enter the country until their status could be determined.
