Cables received here today from Warsaw express surprise at Lt. Gen. Sir Frederick Morgan’s statement that his representatives had been unable to find concrete examples of a pogrom inside Poland.

The only explanation that Polish circles here could suggest for Gen. Morgan’s statement was a narrow interpretation of the word “pogrom.” They claimed that most anti-Jewish actions were “on a small scale,” such as the murder of individual Jews and the burning of single Jewish-owned enterprises.
