Calling for a moral awakening of the American people through the medium of the Protestant and Catholic Church and the Synagogue, President Truman today appealed for cooperation from all peoples in securing decent housing for all and in barring discrimination.

Addressing the Federal Council of the Churches of Christ here, the President asks Americans to carry on “in a spirit of tolerance and understanding for all men and nations.” He stressed that “we have this America not because we are of a particular faith and not because our ancestors sailed from a particular foreign port.”
