A request by the Jewish Central Committee that persons who suffered from racial persecution receive the same benefits given war veterans has been rejected by the Ministry of Welfare.

The Ministry stated that the Government’s present financial situation barred such assistance to persecuted Jews, even though their claims were “just and equitable.” The Jewish committee announced that it will protest the ruling.
