The influx of Polish Jews, about 5,000 of whom have arrived here in the past week, besides overloading the facilities of relief organizations is causing a rising wave of anti-Semitism.
Although the refugees are being cared for by the Joint Distribution Committee and UNRRA and are, therefore, not taxing local facilities, anti-Semitic groups are circulating rumors that the presence in Austria of large numbers of displaced persons will lengthen the stay of the occupation powers.
With JDC and UNRRA accommodations overflowing, trainloads of Polish Jews leave here daily for Salzburg in the U.S. zone and Udmont in the British zone. Jewish leaders have expressed the hops that an international agreement will be reached on transporting these refugees, since the longer they remain here, the more effective are the arguments of the anti-Semites.
