The British Government was asked today by the American Jewish Committee to disavow the letter issued by Gen. Barker.

In a letter to Lord Inverchapel, British Ambassador to the U.S., David Sher, chairman of the administrative committee of the organization, stated that the “calumnious and gratuitous language” of the order “resembles the vituperation of Hitler. It is especially appalling to hear it from a British official.”
