Shipments of relief supplies by the Joint Distribution Committee to Jewish survivors in thirteen overseas countries during July totalled over 1,500,000 pounds–more than half in foodstuffs–and were valued at more than $535,000, it was announced here yesterday.
The supplies, which also included new and used clothing, medicines and medical equipment, tools, raw materials and personal and household items, were purchased in the United States. Chief recipients were Jews in Poland and in Germany and Austria, where J.D.C, assistance supplements UNRRA aid.
