The statue of High Rabbi Judah Ben Bezalel Loew, who is credited with having created the “Golem” in the 16th century, which was removed by the Germans during the war, has now been replaced in its familiar spot in front of the city hall here.
It was revealed today that a Prague architect, ordered by the Germans to remove the statue, hid it in his own storehouse. After the liberation, he turned it back to Prague authorities for restoration to its original site.
