Mayor Victor Dombrovsky of Bucharest today ordered that anti-Semitic inscriptions be removed from tombstones in Christian cemeteries. At the same time, the Rumanian section of the World Jewish Congress was invited today to send a delegate to the forthcoming conference of the Christian-Jewish Association which will discuss means of combatting anti-Semitism.

Special services were held in synagogues throughout Rumania yesterday as Jews joined with other citizens in celebrating Russo-Rumanian Friendship Day. Chief Rabbi Alexander Shafran represented the Jewish community at the official celebration in Bucharest. He also delivered a sermon in the chief synagogue here in which he praised the Russians for saving the lives of many thousands of Jews in Rumania.
