Jewish leaders are investigating the arrests made early this week of more than 80 displaced Jews in the Unlanen Caserne of Bamberg, who are charged with unlawful possession of alleged black market goods.
Forty of the DP’s were released when representatives of Jewish voluntary relief agencies proved that goods in their possession were supplied by the Army and by UNRRA. One man charged with possessing a dangerous weapon was freed when it was found that all he had on him was a Boy Scout knife.
