Two electrically-detonated land mines blew up a British military truck tonight, injuring four soldiers, one seriously. The explosion occurred on Remallah Road, on the outskirts of Jerusalem.

Immediately after the blast traffic to and from the four security zones in Jerusalem was halted, and police patrols were sent to the scene of the explosion. They found fragments of glass, indicating that the explosive had been inserted in milk bottles, and several other boxes containing explosives.

Other explosions are reported to have taken place tonight in Haifa, Nablus and an undisclosed locality. This is the first outbreak of violence in about two weeks.

It was officially announced today that the death sentences imposed on three Irgunists last week have been “respited” until the Privy Council acts on the appeal filed on behalf of Dov Gruner.

The 800-odd refugees who were deported from Haifa yesterday morning aboard the Empire Rival, after having been transchipped from ## Healmoni, arrived today in Famagusta, Cyprus. They were taken in trucks to internment camps.
