Jewish Agency Names U.S. Members Plus Goldmann to Present Zionist Case at U.N.

The Jewish Agency today named a seven-man delegation to present the Zionist case at the United Nations when the question of Palestine is placed before that body.

Concluding a full-week session here, the Agency authorized the six members residing in the United States: Dr. Abba Hillel Silver, Moshe Shertok, Dr. Emanuel Neumann, Rabbi Wolf Gold, Hayim Greenberg and Mrs. Rose Halperin, and Dr. Nahum Goldmann to speak for it at the U.N. Each of the seven will assume responsibility for a different sphere of activity.

The meeting decided to convene the Zionist Actions Committee on May 12, at a place to be designated later, but which will probably be either New York or Jerusalem It appropriated $28,000,000 for the Agency’s activities in the coming fiscal year.

A full statement outlining the decisions of the Agency will be released tomorrow, but it is understood that the political “line” to be followed at the United Nations will be that adopted at the World Zionist Congress in Basle: establishement of Palestine as a Jewish state, and, meanwhile, increased Jewish immigration and withdrawal of the White Paper. The U.N. will be asked to instruct Britain to adhere to the provisions of the Mandate until a decision on Palestine is reached.

Menachim Boigin, commander of the Irgun Zvai Leumi, is reported to have issued this afternoon a “cease fire” order to his followers, explaining that the Irgun will suspend its terrorist activities for an indefinite period as a result of negotiations with “responsible Jewish circles.” The order stresses, however, that the Irgun has not accepted “the discipline of the Jewish Agency.”

The order of the day is understood to state that the Irgun will couldn’t independent political activity abroad regardless of whether its activities #### the Jewish Agency. It hints that the Irgun supports the move for a provisional Hebrew Government-in-Exile. The order ridicules the claim by British authorities here that than have succeeded in arresting a member of leading terrorists in recent days, stating that none of the Irgun members have been seized.

In a broadcast tonight, the Irgun called for a world-wide boycott of English goods, declaring that “Jews should see Jewish blood in every piece of British cloth.” The broadcast added that Britain’s present hardships are the punishment of #### for subjecting the Jews to suffering and for keeping them from their homeland. Significantly, the broadcast does not contain the usual threats of violence against the British, which tends to bear out the authenticity of the alleged Beigin order.

The Stern Group has so far remained silent, but it is romored that it does not share the Irgun’s opinion of the advisability of abandoning violence, and will continue its terrorist activities.
