Rabbinical Council of America Calls on U.S. to Press Jewish Cause at U.N. Session

The United States was urged to take the initiative in championing the Jewish cause at the U.N. session on Palestine in a resolution adopted here today by the 11th annual convention of the Pabbinical Council of America.

The resolution also called on the U.S. Government to insist that the Jewish Agency be accorded full representation at the session. Further, it asked the American delegation to press Britain for an interim policy providing for large-scale Jewish immigration to Palestine and the removal of land purchase restriction.

A second resolution embodying the report of the Council’s Social Justice Commission was voted. It called for protection of labor’s rights, adoption of Federal ##E.P.C. legislation, improvement of the national health program and the admission of more DP’s as immigrants.The convention also adopted a pension and health insurance plan. It decided to make available for the operation of the insurance plan one-third of a sum of 200,000 set aside in the Schiff Fund for the use of Orthodox relate. The plan will provide monthly payments for retired rabbis and sick and disability benefits.
