A bill to extend non-quota preference visas to ##ude skilled workers, persons who helped the American war effort and certain ##atives of citizens has been introduced in Congress by Rep. Christian A. Herter, ##sachusetts Republican.The bill would expand the preference category to include “immigrants whose ##vices are urgently needed by American firms or institutions in order that they ## perform highly skilled or technical services in the United States,” to persons ## rendered “notable services” to this country’s war efforts, and to brothers, sis##s, unmarried children over 21, and orphaned minor nieces and nephews of American ##izens. Under the present statute preference categories apply only to minor children, wives, husbands and parents of American citizens.
