Samuel Alman, one of Britain’s most prominent Jewish composers, died today at the age of 70. Although his opera, “Melech Ehad,” (##)roduced in 1912, met with great success, he devoted most of his energies to the creation of liturgical works. His musical settings to the poems of Bialik and other (##)shrew poets are also among his better-known compositions.
