Arthur J. Altmeyer, former executive secretary of the Preparatory Commission for the International Refugee Organization, said today that prospects for the resettlement of displaced persons were very good. South America, ##ustralia, and Canada, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Britain, are now showing greater interest in admitting DP’s, he reported.Arriving home after a five-month tour of the DP camps, Altmeyer pointed out that only 25 percent of the 650,000 displaced persons being cared for by the International Refugee Organization are Jewish. Urging passage of the Stratton Bill to ad##it 100,000 DP’s to the United States every year for the next four years, Altmeyer ##ointed out that “these people have the energy and skills which we could use to our advantage. They are not worn out, broken down or disceuraged.”
