Sami Effendi Taha, secretary-general of the Palestine Arab Workers Society, and an opponent of the Mufti, was assassinated today in Haifa by five Arabs, a few hours after he had told a meeting here that he would favor civil rights for all Jews in Palestine, even those who arrived after 1918.
