Declaring that “we are disappointed that the Government of Canada has not seen fit to recognize the state of Israel,” M.J. Coldwell, leader of the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation, told a political rally here that the Socialist party has consistently urged the enforcement of the original U.N. partition decision and the immediate recognition of the Jewish state.

The Canadian Congress of Labor today urged the government to grant recognition to Israel. In a message to Minister for External Affairs Louis St. Laurent, Pat Conroy, a leader of the Congress, asserted that Canada’s support of the Palestine partition decision last November in the General Assembly debate should logically be followed by recognition.
