U.S. Officials Fly to Israel to Arrange for Migration of Dp’s from Germany

An American military official and two civilian officials of the military government left here today by plane for Israel where they will contact Israeli immigration authorities and discuss plans for the large migration government expected from the German DP camps to Israel this summer.

Meanwhile, the Central Jewish Committee has sent a memorandum to the Israeli government asking that customs officials be ordered to cease placing duties on goods being brought into the Jewish state by immigrants from Germany and Austria. The memorandum also complained that “baggage of immigrants from the DP camps frequently does not arrive until six weeks after the immigrant and storage charges are made.
