A United Israel Campaign with a goal of 3,000,000 pesos (approximately $1,000,000) was launched here at a public meeting at which Israeli Minister to Uruguay Jacob Tzur was the principal speaker.

The Joint Distribution Committee launched a fund-raising drive in Uruguay to raise 300,000 pesos (approximately $100,OO0) The campaign was launched following the arrival here of J.B. Lightman and Tobias Berelejis, J.D.C. officials from Argentina. The J.D.C. effort emphasizes that the goal of $100,000 set for the Uruguayan Jewish community will help transport some 1,000 displaced Jews from Europe to Israel.
