Anglo-jewish Association Accepts Adenauer’s Statement on German Policy Toward Jews

The Anglo-Jewish Association today issued a statement noting with “satisfaction” the position of Dr. Konrad Adenauer, Chancellor of the new West German Federate Republic, on the question of the Jews in Germany.

The A.J.A. statement noted Chancellor Adenauer’s affirmation of the “determination of the Federal Government to ensure respect for the rights of all its citizens without distinction as to creed and race, and to devote particular attention to making good the losses suffered by the Jews under the National Socialist regime.”

The injuries inflicted on the victims of Nazi persecution are irreparable, the statement said, but “it is to be hoped that Adenauer’s assurances will result in a measure of justice being done the surviving remnant of the Jewish population.”
