The South African Assembly, by 69 votes to 61, last night approved the second reading of the government’s Group Areas Bill, which would establish separate living areas for European, Africans and colored people.
During the three-day debate, Dr. Eben Donges, Minister of the Interior, said the bill was entirely a matter of domestic juriediction. There was no racial element involved in the measure which concerned any other nation, and the Union would not tolerate any country “poking its nose” into the matter, he said.
