Several hospital wards in various parts of Israel have been closed because of a shortage of trained nurses and the patients have been returned to their homes, it was learned here today.

It is understood that Premier David Ben Gurion is giving the matter his personal attention. The shortage has developed as a result of the mobilization of women nurses by the Army.

Plans for a housing program to accomodate elderly persons in Israel were announced by Finance Minister Eliezer Ka?lan at cornerstone-laying ceremonies at Abu Kebir, marking the construction of a new quarter for members of the Histadrut, Israel’s general federation of labor.
