Soviet Court Bans Israel Merchant Seamen for 28 Years; Entered Restricted Area

Several israel merchant seamen aboard the cargo vessel Neir Dizengoff have been ordered by a Russian military court not to set foot on Soviet soil for the next 28 years, the newspaper Haboker reported here today.

The seamen accidentally entered a restricted area while visiting a Russian Black Sea port. They were arrested and tried by the military court. The Army captain who presided over the court said he was taking into account that this was the first Israel violation of restricted Soviet territory.
