Koussevitzki Will Direct Musical Program at Festival Marking Jerusalem’s Anniversary

Serge Koussevitzki, world-renowned conductor, revealed at a press conference today that he has agreed to direct the musical program of the forthcoming Jerusalem Festival, which will commemorate the 3,000th anniversary of the Holy City. He said that he would invite a number of outstanding conductors to the festival, including Duitri Mitropoulis, Leonard Bernstein and Sharon Kaplan.

Mr. Koussevitzki, who plans to return to the United States on November 8, also revealed that the famed La Scala orchestra of Milan, Italy, will be asked to play at the festival. Special musical scores are being composed for the occasion, including one that will depict the era of King David.
