The Mapam party’s national council today rejected, by 250 votes against three, a minority resolution recommending the continuation of negotiations by leaders of the party with Premier David Ben Gurion for the eventual inclusion of Mapam representatives in Israel’s new coalition Cabinet. The minority group was led by Itzhak Bar Yehuda.
The majority group, led by Jacob Chazan, is reported to be demanding that the talks with Mr. Ben Gurion be broken off, holding Mr. Ben Gurion’s Mapai party responsible for the failure of the negotiations.
The Jewish Agency executive has so far failed to reach agreement on the distribution of posts to the various members, it was learned here today. It is planned to hold another meeting of the executive Sunday in an attempt to reach a solution.
