Fritz Sonnenberg, prominent figure in South African Jewry, was today elected Mayor of Capetown. He had been a member of the Capetown City Council for 13 years and served as Deputy Mayor during the past year. He comes from a family which has given two noted Jewish parliamentarians to the country–the late Charles and Max Sonnenberg.
