The Jewish Agency’s Economic Department today announced appointment of field representatives in major U.S. cities, working on a “dollar-a-year” basis, to help stimulate the investment of private American capital in Israel’s rapidly expanding economy.
Field representatives-all of them prominent in local business and industrial affairs-have already been chosen in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Cleveland, Detroit, Tucson and Los Angeles. Additional appointments are expected to be made in Dallas, Minneapolis and San Francisco.
“The Economic Department of the Jewish Agency has undertaken this move,” a spokesman here declared, “to support the Israel Government’s current drive to encourage the flow of private investment capital from this country into Israel. Manifold opportunities for investment in Israel’s growing industries are constantly arising. It will be the task of our field representatives to call these to the attention of interested circles within their communities.
“In its three years of activities, the Economic Department has accumulated an immense store of specific economic information on Israel, including market research data, production facilities, availability of raw materials, tax laws, etc. By placing this material in the hands of capable local representatives, we feel that we can be of invaluable direct service to the many American businessmen and industrialists who are potential investors in the world’s newest and fastest-growing democracy.”
