President of Cuba Publicly Condemns Anti-jewish Discrimination

Anti-Jewish discrimination was sharply condemned here by Cuban President Dr. Carlos Prio Socarras in the course of a speech which he delivered at a reception arranged for him by the largest organization of Negroes in this country.

Emphasizing that racial discrimination is not a product of Cuba but was “imported” from abroad, President Socarras referred specifically to Jews for the first time in the history of Cuba. “Whoever persecutes the Jews today will persecute the Negroes tomorrow,” he stated. He appealed to the population of Havana to combat racial propaganda.
