New York Jewish Pianist Wins First Prize in Belgian Music Contest

Leon Fleisher, 24-year-old New York Jewish pianist, and winner in the final tests of the Queen Elizabeth of Belgium international music competition here this week end, will visit Israel in July, he said today. The youth won the $3,000 first prize in the contest held in the great concert hall of the Palace of Fine Arts, in the presence of the Dowager Queen Elizabeth. Seventy-five pianists from 20 countries had originally entered the competition.
