The Syrian Legation here has asked the United States Government not to transfer the American Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, it was learned today. The legation here is conducting intensive propaganda against “the movement of the Israel capital from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem” and the Syrian Foreign Ministry has submitted copies of a memorandum on the internationalization of Jerusalem to the United Nations and to many states maintaining diplomatic relations with Israel. The Syrians have taken the lead in meetings here with other Arab delegations to promote propaganda on the Jerusalem question.
