Egypt has now in effect abandoned the pretense that she is still contemplating an economic boycott against West Germany because Bonn approved the reparations agreement with Israel.

Egypt’s recognition that the Israel agreement will not be allowed to interfere with her relations with Germany is seen in the appointment, after a long delay, of an Egyptian Ambassador to Bonn and in the opening of negotiations about a new trade pact between the two countries.
