The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization will make every attempt to overcome difficulties which may arise for Israel as a result of its having been placed in the European region, for administrative purposes, rather than in the Middle East region of the FAO where it belongs because of its geographical location, it was indicated here today.

In a statement issued here, the Israel celegation said that the only “disturbing factor” in FAO-Israel relations was this administrative change which meant, in effect, that FAO services for Israel would emanate from the Rome headquarters of the organization, by-passing the Cairo Middle East region headquarters. When the change was voted, Israel delegates charged that the FAO had surrendered to Arab political pressure.
