A new road to Eilath which opens the Central Negev to tourists and makes possible the exploitation of the desert’s mineral resources was opened today. Construction was started on the road two years ago. This route is an alternate to the present Araba road to Eilath.

The business center of the new city of Askelon was dedicated today at a ceremony attended by President Ben Zvi, several Cabinet Ministers and hundreds of Jewish tourists from South Africa. The area was constructed with half-a-million pounds invested by South African Jews.
