French Government Urged to Protect Jewish Lives in Morocco

French Jewry was called upon today by Andre Blumel, secretary-general of the French Zionist Federation, to remind the French Government of its obligations as a protective force in Morocco, particularly with regard to the protection of Jewish lives. Moroccan Jews, M. Blumel pointed out, are proteges of the Sultan, consequently they are the responsibility of the French Government. Yet during the recent pogroms, especially at Petitjean, “French police made no move of any kind” to protect the Jews, M. Blumel said.
