A unified and simultaneous campaign to raise funds from among Jewish military personnel in all branches of the United States Armed Forces on behalf of the United Jewish Appeal was initiated for the first time today under the auspices of the National Jewish Welfare Board. The campaign will run till Purim.

The campaign will be conducted by 97 full-time and 244 part-time Jewish chaplains on duty with the U.S. Armed Forces in the United States and 49 other countries. JWB is the government-authorized agency for serving the religious, morale and welfare needs of Jews in the Armed Forces and of Jewish veterans in Veterans Administration hospitals.

Each Jewish chaplain will initiate and conduct the campaign in accordance with his local situation after full clearance with the appropriate military authorities. All funds raised will be forwarded to JWB headquarters in New York for transmittal to the United Jewish Appeal.
