French Jewish Composer, Israel Ambassador to U.S. Receive Degrees

Darius Milhaud, the French Jewish composer, was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Hebrew Letters here tonight at the fifth graduation and consecration service of the Hebrew Union School of Sacred Music, a training center for cantors. The degree, for M. Milhaud’s contributions to modern music and particularly the music of the synagogue, was conferred by Dr. Nelson Glueck, president of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, of which the cantorial school is a part.
