A joint communique issued by Israel and Egypt on the talks for the easing of tension on the Gaza strip border said the points remaining to be settled have been reduced to a very limited number. The communique made reference to further discussions “for arrangements for the maintenance of security along the demarcation line,” and added that during the period preceding the next meeting, scheduled for July 20, various alternatives would be considered by the parties and that it is hoped that a final draft of the document will be achieved by the next meeting.
