Dulles Says “cold War” Resumed by Soviet Arming of Arabs

Secretary of State John Foster Dulles told the opening meeting of the Council of NATO here today that the Soviet Union has resumed the cold war with thrusts into the Middle East and South Asia.

In his address to the representatives of 15 nations in the Atlantic pact, Mr. Dulles said that they had overcome greater dangers from the same source in the past by remaining vigilant and united. The Western diplomats, who include beside Mr. Dulles, British Foreign Secretary Harold Macmillan and French Foreign Minister Antoine Pinay, are not expected to come up with immediate moves to counteract the USSR in the Middle East, but are expected at this time merely to state their problem and work on its solution in the coming weeks and months.
