Jewish youth leaders and potential youth leaders from various communities in West Germany held an eight-day conference on Jewish youth activities in the country in a castle in the Odenwald Mountains. The conference was the first of its kind arranged in Germany since the closing of the major DP camps six years ago.

Of the 40 participants, a number of them graduate students, 15 came from Berlin and 10 from Munich, the only cities with enough young people to form youth groups. A total of 15 were from other cities of West Germany, where there are only isolated youngsters more than 10 years old. The meeting was jointly sponsored by the cultural department of the Central Jewish Council and the youth department of the Central Welfare Agency.
