French Government Promises Action on Egypt’s Deportation

French Foreign Minister Edgar Faure received today a delegation of leading French Jews, headed by Daniel Mayer, chairman of the French National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee, who expressed concern over Egypt’s deportation of Jews. M. Faure pledged, that if Nasser does not end these measures which violate the Geneva Convention protecting noncombatants, France would bring the matter to international attention. He also detailed the humanitarian measures which the French Government had taken to assist the deportees.
