Chief Rabbi of Egypt Reported to Be Held Under House Arrest

Chief Rabbi Haim Nahoum of Egypt is under house arrest and is not allowed out of his home, even to attend synagogue services, a party of 34 Egyptian Jews who arrived here today reported.

The Jews, all of whom had been expelled from Egypt, told the now familiar story of Egyptian raids on November 1 against Jews, their arrest and imprisonment and finally, their deportation, A number of the Jews in todays group held Italian nationality.
