An oil gusher erupted Saturday morning in a new oil well at Brur two kilometers south of the most southern Heletz oil well. A steam test brought in the oil from a depth of 5,000 feet, the same level as that of most wells in the Heletz field.

The new well was called “quite satisfactory” by Israel Barnea, director of the Mezada Company which is cooperating with Israeli oil prospectors and Lapidot companies who own the new well. Mr. Barnea said the new well might indicate a new field since it was found under a different geologic structure than that of the Heletz field, though extension of the Heletz field was possible.
