The 9, 500-ton freighter Har Canaan, built here under the reparations pact by Germany’s largest shipyard, was delivered today to her new Tel Aviv owners, Bulk Carriers, Ltd. The vessel is 415 feet long and can carry a maximum of 14, 750 tons of such cargo as coal, steel or grain. The carrier will be employed on freight routes between Israel, European and American ports.
The freighter is the third of four sister ships being constructed under terms of the Israeli-German agreement. Two others are already in service and a fourth will be within a few months.
