An English translation of the Talmud was presented to United States Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren yesterday at the conclusion of a three-day seminar on Jewish law held at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America this weekend. Justice Warren attended all the lecture-discussion sessions devoted to “Law as a Moral Force.”
In accepting the work, Justice Warren commented that “there is as much intolerance, as much bigotry and as much hatred rampant in the world today as when these great scholars were developing and evolving this Talmud, “He promised to read the 30 volumes of Jewish law and commentary and to “study it with great humility.”
