Frank L. Weil, American Jewish Leader, Dead; Was Active in Many Groups

Frank L. Weil, noted Jewish communal and civic leader, died here yesterday. He was 63.

A native of New York, Mr. Weil was chairman of President Truman’s Committee on Religion and Moral Welfare in the Armed Forces for which he received the Medal of Merit. He was also a vice president of the Boy Scouts of America and a president of the USO during the second World War.

His Jewish activities ranged through the philanthropic, educational and religious fields. He was president of the National Jewish Welfare Board for ten years. In 1955 he was named Reform Judaism’s “Man of the Year.” From 1932 to 1940, he was president of the World Federation of YM-YWHAs and was for many years a member of the board of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
