Israel will be represented by a three-member observer delegation at the forthcoming meeting in Strasbourg of the Council of Europe, it was revealed here today. The Council, representing the Parliaments of the Western European countries, will convene next week.
It is not expected that Israel will make a formal request for more active status in relation to the Council, in the near future. The three men, who are already here, are: Ambassador Maurice Fisher, M. Lipshitz, representing the Mapai Party, and Dr. Peretz Bernstein, General Zionist leader.
Christian Pineau, French Foreign Minister, and British Foreign officials will probably discuss a common Middle East policy when the French diplomat visits London January 17, diplomatic sources here said today. These sources said it was likely that Pineau would advocate a more subtle policy toward the Egyptian-Syrian bloc.
